The lone rat.

Went to a house today in Vallejo that we did extensive exclusion and cleaning at about a month ago. We’ve been back twice for trap checks and all seemed quiet until a few days ago. The customers came back from a two week trip to sheets chewed up and new droppings. I went to re-inspect and couldn’t find any new exterior openings so my guess at this point is that it’s surviving off scraps from what they’re 17 year old dog doesn’t eat and maybe some random food here and there.

This one is a unique account, they’ve already stored their food properly but for some reason we can’t catch the last rat. Our game plan - feed the dog in some sort of plastic open box or maybe a cardboard box and then remove any food that he didn’t eat right after. Rats are cunning and extremely good at finding food. Once you COMPLETELY remove all food sources, the traps become their only food source. They’ll either hit the traps or starve, they usually hit the traps.

If you feel throwing in the towel and you want to start giving your unwanted pet rats a martini like this customer did, give us a call! We service Napa, Solano and Contra Costa Counties.
