Hidden rodent entry points

If you or your pest provider can’t find how rats are getting in, be sure to check all the ducts in your attic going out through the roof. Sometimes there are gaps between the duct and the metal t-vent or mushroom vent on the roof. We’ve even seen them go under tiles to get to these gaps. We usually seal these gaps from the attic but sometimes it can sealed from the roof itself.

The pictures above show how a duct sometimes doesn’t fit tightly into a t-vent above. These vents don’t have screening inside and can easily allow rodents in.

Check the video below to see an obvious example of rats getting into a t-vent. This customer has a previous pest company coming for months setting and checking traps in her attic. After months of “no activity” she finally let him go.

An HVAC tech went there a few months later and mentioned the rat droppings were real heavy so she called us - the rat specialists. We easily found the entry point and sealed it.

The reason the pest tech found no activity is because rats often won’t touch traps until the entry points are sealed.
